OUR HISTORY

The Hotel Terramar holds a special distinction as one of the first hotels opened in Palafrugell and on the Costa Brava. The embryo of the future Terramar, founded in 1934 by Josep Negra Corretger, was a modest establishment built at a time when summer holidays on the beach were beginning to attract the wealthier members of the bourgeoisie. Among the first guests were local businessmen from the cork industry and international businessmen with links to the industry. This is no coincidence, as Josep Negra had contacts in the cork business world since 1925, when he had taken over the management of the Casino Mercantil in Palafrugell.

A family hotel

A hotel with history

Our characteristic friendliness comes from the spirit with which, in 1933, Josep Negra i Corretger founded the tavern that would later become Hotel Terramar. We started out as a small restaurant. We served fresh fish and top-quality traditional cuisine, which were well-known among the residents of Palafrugell. Soon after, the wish to stay and spend the night by the sea encouraged us to build bedrooms for our local clients. Little by little, we made our name as a reference tourist destination. In the 1940s, the first foreign visitors began to arrive, drawn by the climate and the setting. The quality service, combined with the local charm, offered an irresistible combination, and the Costa Brava gained international fame. Since then, it has been an exceptional destination chosen by well-known figures from the world of culture and history. Among them, Josep Pla is the one who best described its character, and today, you can follow his footsteps on a route dedicated to his legacy. Over the years, the hotel has grown and been passed down from one generation to another. We are currently in the fourth generation of the Negra family and continue to maintain a family structure. This allows us to uphold our customer care philosophy while adding the freshness and warmth of youth to our experience and professionalism. As pioneers in Llafranc, we embrace the responsibility of meeting the highest environmental standards. We continue moving forward to elevate Llafranc and make every visit an unforgettable experience.
